word of the week: COURAGE

Courage is the quality of the mind that enables us to face danger with confidence. As Christians, we need courage for our walk of faith. Courage is needed to spread the word of God all over the world. 1 Corinthians 16:13 says, “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong.” Without courage, we can easily be torn down by the world and lose faith in God. With courage, we know we can do everything through God. We can stand up and face the world. Showing the world God’s word takes courage because we have to submit to God and what he wants. • Jayven L. is a Kindergarten STAR. His teacher says, “Jayven is new to our school this year. He is the first person to class every morning and always greets everyone with a smile and helps his classmates with getting their mornings started. He shines the light of Jesus by being a good example to his friends. He is kind and thoughtful to those around him. Jayven also loves dinosaurs and is a good student. He is a joy to have in our class this year.”
  • Tom P. is a 1st Grade STAR. His teacher says, “This young man is eager to learn and works hard in the classroom. He is often the first one to finish all of his work. He is a pleasure to have in our classroom, and I can’t wait to see what God has planned for him.”

HISTORY DAY RESULTS

Our 7th Annual ACS History Day took place last Thursday, and it was a wonderful success! The middle school students all competed in five different categories, and did a fantastic job! Forty-seven of our ACS students received 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place ribbons, and will now be going on to compete at Regional History Day on March 3rd . Please congratulate the following students and pray for them in the future competitions. May God be glorified in it all!

8TH GRADE MISSION LUNCHEON

The 8th grade class of Albuquerque Christian School is planning a mission trip to Abilene, Texas. The students have decided to work at Mission Abilene Church and with Love & Care Ministry to serve the poor and homeless of Abilene.

One of their fundraisers is serving lunch for the students at our school. We will be serving Straight Up Pizza. No Canteen lunch will be available on this day. Please RSVP by sending your payment in the attached envelope. To ensure that we have enough food, a final count is due Thursday, February 23rd.

OPEN Registration

We are now open for public registration for the 2011/2012 school year. Remember, there is a $200 rebate per family you introduce to the school. The first hundred will come as soon as they register and the second will come at Christmas the following year. If you know anyone who is interested in attending ACS next year, have him or her call the school office to schedule a tour and make sure they mention your name!

BOXTOPS

Please continue collecting boxtops to benefit our 8th grade mission trip/History Day.  We will be gathering boxtops all through January and February.  It really helps us if you cut out the boxtops and put them in a baggie with your child's teacher's name as well as the number of boxtops written on the outside in the baggie. The class who collects the most boxtops by the end of February will win an ice cream party!

food pantry

Thanks for all you do to help the needy families of Albuquerque. Your efforts make a difference to many of the families in the surrounding community. During the month of November, we will be collecting peanut butter and jelly. You can drop your donation off in the blue tub located in the lobby.
