Word of the
Week: JOY 1 Thessalonians 2:17”But, brothers, when we were torn away from you for a
short time (in person, not in thought), out of our intense longing we made
every effort to see you. 18For we
wanted to come to you—certainly I, Paul, did, again and again—but Satan
stopped us. 19For what is our
hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our
Lord Jesus when he comes? Is it not you? 20Indeed, you are our glory and joy.” Take the
focus off of yourself. How do you
bring joy into the lives of others? In this passage from the book of 1
Thessalonians, Paul was telling his fellow Christians that he missed them. He
was letting them know that they brought joy into his life. The love of Jesus
is seen in us when we speak and act in ways that bring joy into the lives of
those we come in contact with. Make every effort, as far as it depends on
you, to bring joy into someone’s life today.

8th GRADE MISSION TRIP The 8th graders will be going on a mission trip to Abilene, Texas to work with Love and Care Ministries serving the poor and homeless there. They will be leaving Monday, April 12 and will return Saturday, April 17. This is a great trip that really helps students understand how blessed they are and brings them closer together. We ask that everyone pray for these students and this year’s mission. If you would like to help, the following fund raisers are being sponsored by the 8th grade: Pie in the Face: Raffle tickets are being sold before and after school for the chance to put a pie in the face of an eighth grader. The price of a ticket is fifty cents and you get to pick which eighth grader you would like the chance to pie. Last day to buy tickets is tomorrow before assembly. Even if you don’t win, it will be fun to watch it happen at this Wednesday’s assembly. Candy Sales: The 8th graders are selling rock candy, chocolate cookies, and candy bars at lunch and after school. Everything sells for $1. If you would like to purchase candy and help us out, please see one of the 8th graders. Mrs. Haley at the front desk will also be helping to sell some of the candy for them. Box Tops for Education: Please begin sending
in Box Tops for Education. We will be collecting these throughout the
month of February. The classes that collect the most box tops will get
a treat. All proceeds from the box tops benefit the 8th grade mission
trip. It is helpful if you put the box tops in a Ziploc bag and write the
number of box tops on the bag. Please put bonus box tops in a separate bag.
Thank you for your help. |

PLEASE
remember the school, staff, and children in your daily prayers. “Shout
for joy to the Lord; all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come
before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made
us, and we are His; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his
gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and
praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his
faithfulness continues through all generations,” (Psalm100). |
